The Richardson Police Department’s new administration building has placed second nationwide in the inaugural Law Enforcement Design Awards program sponsored by LET magazine and Officer.com. The 80,000-square-foot facility placed second in the category for Law Enforcement Facilities Over 50,000 Square Feet. Designed by Dallas-based BRW Architects, it received recognition for its “open and inviting” design, for having a “distinctly local feel” for the use of native stone, and for reinforcing the Department’s commitment to transparency and interaction with the public with the building’s abundance of windows.

The facility was constructed as part of the 2015 Bond program and officially opened in January 2020, part of the 11-acre public safety campus that sits at the northeast corner of Greenville Avenue and Main Street.
