Members of Altrusa International of Richardson presented a ceremonial check to the City Council Monday for $218,427.72, representing the value of more than 7,000 volunteer hours contributed by club members to the city from June 2019-May 2020. Since 1966, the service organization has provided support to City departments and local agencies including the Richardson Public Library, Animal Shelter, RISD and Network of Community Ministries.

The check presentation is usually made in the fall during Altrusa’s annual “Outstanding Women of Today … Builders of Tomorrow” luncheon, but due to the pandemic, the luncheon was not held this year.
