The Richardson Civic Art Society (RCAS) awarded cash prizes to a total of 24 talented high school students from the Richardson Independent School District for their participating in this year’s annual Young People’s Art Exhibit.

The show is on display at the Richardson Public Library, 3rd floor until March 22.

The exhibition is sponsored by RCAS and features drawings, paintings and photographs.  Organizers said the exhibition is a great opportunity for students because art has the potential to guide them down a successful path.

“I am very surprised that I won. I am proud of myself, I work hard for it and I’m glad it got to be shown because I love going to see other people’s art and I’m glad people can come and see mine,“ said Lexi Visinksy, high school student who received first place for art work highlighting depression.

Prizes included $125 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place and $35 for honorable mention in the art categories for 1st Year student, 2nd Year Student, 3rd Year Student and 4th Year Student. Prizes were also awarded in the category for photography and senior portfolios.
