City Transportation and Mobility staff presented an update to the City Council Monday about DARTzoom, a bus network redesign currently in the planning stages by DART. The budget-neutral redesign is focused on how to best balance resources between serving the most frequently used bus routes in high density corridors vs. serving more locations within its 700-square-mile service area that have less riders. Currently about 55 percent of DART’s bus service is focused on high ridership routes.

Maps were shown to City Council Members that demonstrate how wait times and routes would be affected in Richardson depending on which aspect is given priority.

DART expects to have a final draft plan by winter 2021 and a second round of public involvement is planned for spring 2021. Once approved, service changes are expected to be implemented in May 2022.
