Phase 1 of the updating process for the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan has begun, in tandem with the development of the City’s Active Transportation Plan (ATP). Data gathering is the focus, with park facility inventories and population analysis taking place as well as public input opportunities such as focus groups, a community survey, and two open house meetings scheduled for March 2-3.

  • Open House #1
Heights Recreation Center, 711 W. Arapaho Rd.
    Wednesday, March 2
    5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Open House #2
Huffhines Recreation Center, 200 N. Plano Rd.
    Thursday, March 3
    5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Master Plan guides the development and redevelopment of parks and recreation resources and serves as the primary planning guide for prioritizing future projects and programming. The ATP will serve as a roadmap to guide short- and long-term priorities regarding active transportation, i.e., human-powered transportation modes (walking, cycling or using a personal mobility device such as a wheelchair).

Public input is needed to help shape the direction of both initiatives. An online ATP public survey will be available online March 3.
