Get to know Richardson’s “newest” destination Oct. 23 at the Main Street Celebration in the downtown Richardson/Main Street area, aka the Core District. The City and Core District merchants are hosting the free event, which features live music, street performers, family-friendly activities, food vendors and shopping. The event celebrates the many amenities in the area recently created by the City’s Main Street Infrastructure Project, including wider walkways, new landscaping, public art, and community gathering spaces, such as the new lawn where the event’s outdoor stage will be located.
Live music at the outdoor stage begins at 2 p.m. and is headlined by Texas native Abraham Alexander. Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the live music. Parking will be available in a large lot located near the intersection of Texas and Kaufman streets, with overflow parking at the RISD Administration Building on Greenville Avenue. An event bus will be rotating between that site and the event from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
