The Main Street Redevelopment Project continues this month as workers begin reconstruction work along Main Street. The project kicked off last fall and is expected to be complete in winter 2020/2021.
Traffic will be impacted throughout the duration of the project, with traffic reduced to one lane both eastbound and westbound along Main Street at Interurban Street as well as on Greenville Avenue at Main Street. Please note that while at least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times, drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Potential routes for daily commutes and traversing of the Main Street area include the use of Spring Valley Road, Arapaho Road and Polk Street.
Future phases of the project will include the installation of wider sidewalks with new lighting, picnic tables, benches, bike racks, additional open space and enhanced landscaping. The goal of the project is to turn downtown Richardson into an area that is more pedestrian friendly and a place where people will want to gather and interact.
