Richardson ISD will be hosting its annual Backpack Bash in late July and early August. This annual event gives families the opportunity to receive backpacks, school supply kits, hygiene kits and more in a safe environment. It also connects RISD families to programs and services in a festive back-to-school fair atmosphere. More than 5,000 backpacks and school supply kits were distributed to families at last year’s Backpack Bash. This year, the district hopes to give out 7,500 backpacks.

RISD is accepting both financial and in-kind donations for the event. Some examples of in-kind donations include food, haircuts, health care or wellness. Financial donations are being accepted by Network to help purchase school supply kits. Visit, www.thenetwork.org/donate-today and indicate your contribution is seasonal so they know it is meant for the Backpack Bash.

Network is also seeking donations for its Clothing Closet. New backpacks and new and like-new school uniform pieces (khakis and red, navy, and blue polos) can be dropped off at Network, 1500 International Pkwy., during business hours. The clothing will ensure students are set up for success when the school year begins.
