The Richardson Animal Shelter is preparing for one of its biggest events of the year. This Saturday is “Clear the Shelters,” a nationwide campaign that gives pets a second chance by finding them a forever home.

The Shelter is one of 69 animal shelters and rescues in North Texas participating. Adoption fees will be waived (other fees may apply in some shelters) during the campaign offering residents a chance to save money as they welcome a new member of their family.

“It gives the Shelter relief which in turn allows us to do more things and we have more space to take in needy animals,” said Joshua Polando, assistant resource coordinator at the Richardson Animal Shelter.

“Clear the Shelters” is taking place Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Richardson Animal Shelter located at 1330 Columbia Dr.
