Artists interested in showcasing their creativity through public art are reminded that the deadline to enter Richardson’s annual Traffic Signal Box Art Contest is approaching.
The City is currently accepting submissions for the 2026 contest, which invites artists to create original designs that will be displayed on traffic signal control boxes throughout the community. This year’s theme is “Community,” encouraging artwork that reflects what makes Richardson a vibrant and connected place to live.
The submission deadline is Friday, April 24, and all entries must be received by that date to be considered.
The contest is open to artists of all skill levels. Selected designs will be professionally wrapped and installed on traffic signal boxes across the city, providing a unique opportunity for artists to contribute to Richardson’s visual landscape. Winning artists will also receive recognition from the City and a $200 stipend.
Participants must submit original artwork that meets the contest guidelines, including size and formatting requirements. Entries are reviewed based on creativity, originality and how well they reflect the theme.
