Residents are invited to celebrate Earth Day by giving back to the environment at a community tree planting event in Richardson.

The City of Richardson, in partnership with nonprofit One Earth One Chance, will host an Earth Day Tree Planting event on Wednesday, April 22, from 9-11 a.m. at Crowley Park, South Pavilion, 2551 E. Lookout Dr.

Held during National Volunteer Month, the event offers a meaningful opportunity for residents to get involved, support sustainability efforts and help enhance Richardson’s urban tree canopy. Volunteer Month is recognized each April as a time to highlight the importance of community service and encourage individuals to make a positive impact where they live.

Volunteers will help plant approximately 50 trees throughout the park donated by One Earth One Chance.

Participants can expect a hands-on experience that includes digging, planting and mulching trees. All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver prior to participating.

Attendees are encouraged to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Bringing items such as a reusable water bottle, sun protection, bug spray, gloves and shovels is recommended. Light refreshments will be provided.

The event is open to individuals, families and groups looking to make a positive impact in the community while celebrating Earth Day and Volunteer Month.

Registration is encouraged in advance. To learn more and sign up, visit https://www.oneearthonechance.org/events/earth-day-tree-planting-in-richardson
