Applications are being accepted for the Richardson Youth Citizen Police Academy, an annual, one-week program to be held June 10-14 that provides youth ages 13-17 firsthand information about how the Richardson Police Department (RPD) functions and promote understanding between youth and police. Topics include hands-on instruction in the following areas:

  • operations overview of RPD
  • K-9 unit
  • SWAT
  • patrol tactics
  • dispatch (communications)
  • crime scene investigations
  • drunk and distracted driving
  • and much more!

The Academy will be held from 8:30 a.m.-noon each day, primarily at the Richardson Emergency Operations Center located at 1621 E. Lookout Dr. and one day at the Richardson/Plano Police Training Academy located in Plano.
