A “virtual celebration” was held online Thursday for participants in the 2020 Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program (RMSIP), replacing the usual celebratory luncheon that marks the completion of the annual work experience. Highlights included remarks by Mayor Paul Voelker and RISD Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone, and a video created by some of the interns.
Now in its third year, the program enables incoming high school seniors to receive eight weeks of paid summer employment at a local business, nonprofit or government agency. It is facilitated by Education is Freedom.
