Looking for a chance to change a pet’s life? Look no further and come meet Scooby! Scooby has been a resident with the Richardson Animal Shelter since July 10. He is a 3-year-old, neutered male pit bull mix that is fully vaccinated and microchipped. This sweet and curious goofball is looking for someone who loves to exercise and wants to play. His previous owner surrendered him after a year of ownership because he was too much to handle for them and they mention to us that his future family needs to have a stable fence or he can get out. He is an amazing dog as he is very sweet and calm but he also loves to run around and play. He was an outside dog but we think he could be an inside dog with some guidance/training of learning where he is supposed to pee. He is heartworm positive, but that does not change how amazing he is. We have completed his medication and he just needs to continue with secondary treatment.

Heartworm Positive Dogs need to receive treatment as soon as possible as it is a serious and potentially fatal disease if not treated and well as they undergo recovery time. If you cannot adopt Scooby but would like to help, donate to VCA by calling 972-699-9999 and mentioning that you would like to support heartworm positive dogs at our shelter. If you are interested in Scooby, call the shelter at 972-744-4480 to schedule an appointment to visit him.
