City Observes National Night Out

Richardson held its National Night Out event Tuesday night, with parties taking place across Richardson on neighborhood streets and in city parks.

UT Dallas President Updates City Council on “State of the University”

Dr. Richard Benson, President of the University of Texas at Dallas, gave an update to the City Council Monday on the “state of the university.”

Last Day to Register to Vote is Oct. 11

Voter registration applications must be postmarked by Oct. 11 or brought in person to the county registrar’s office by the end of business hours on that day in order to participate in the Nov. 8 General and Joint Election.

Huffhines Art Trails Becomes “Huffhines Harvest Fest” Oct. 15-16

Richardson’s longstanding late October festival known as Huffhines Art Trails has been re-branded as Huffhines Harvest Fest this year, taking place Oct. 15-16 at Huffhines Park.

Train Activity Temporarily on the Increase in Richardson

Travelers heading through Richardson may have noticed an increase in activity lately at rail crossings, as Kansas City Southern is diverting freight traffic from an east-west portion of the Cotton Belt Freight Line on the northern edge of the city (between Waterview Parkway and US 75), to instead head southeast on the KCS “spur” through Richardson.

DART Adjusts Schedule for Red River Showdown Oct. 8

The AT&T Red River Showdown football game is expected to bring 100,000 people to the Texas State Fair Oct. 8, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit has made service changes to assist attendees with getting to and from Fair Park.

Property Tax Bills Mailed This Month

The Dallas County and Collin County tax offices will mail property tax statements to Richardson residents this month based on values set by the county appraisal districts as of Jan. 1, 2022.

Peanut Butter Drive Helps Stock Area Food Pantries

Richardson’s Network of Community Ministries reports it has received 4,625 pounds of peanut butter (and other nut butters) so far from last month’s “Spread the Hope” Peanut Butter Drive.

Northbound Lane to Close on Portion of West Prairie Creek Drive

Starting Monday, Oct. 10, the northbound lane of West Prairie Creek Drive between Campbell Road and Fall Creek Drive will be closed at all times for utility work associated with the West Prairie Creek Rehabilitation Project, with no northbound traffic allowed.

Lane Closures Expected Near Plano/Belt Line Intersection

The center lane of westbound Belt Line Road at Plano Road and the outside left turn lane of northbound Plano Road onto the center lane of westbound Belt Line Road may be closed to traffic from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
