Members of the third Richardson CARES (Citizens Academy & Resource Education Series) were recognized at Monday’s City Council meeting. The class recently completed seven weekly sessions at a variety of City venues learning about the various functions of municipal government and its day-to-day operations.
Class members met Shelter animals, participated in a mock zoning case and mock park planning exercise, explored the Eisemann Center, got up close to numerous pieces of heavy equipment at the Service Center and watched a rescue demonstration at the Fire Training Center, among many other experiences.
The first CARES class graduated in 2018. The free, annual program is open to anyone age 18 and older with an interest in learning more about the City of Richardson’s municipal government.
Applications for the fourth Richardson CARES will open in summer 2022.
