The Parks and Recreation Department announced today that summer day camps will begin in mid-June. The decision follows the guidelines provided by Gov. Greg Abbott as part of his phased reopening of businesses and services.

Kinder, Elementary and Playground camps will open June 15. The first two weeks will have limited availability due to staffing and the implementation of new procedures, but more openings are expected to be available by the week of June 29. Due to new state guidelines related to COVID-19, the camps will have less enrollment than previous years. As previously announced, Teen Camp will not be held this summer.

Parents who registered their child for camp before registration was closed due to COVID-19 will receive an e-mail containing more information in early June. Registration information for children not previously registered will also be posted online at www.cor.net/parksonline in early June.

Campers will be required to complete a prescreening form and return it on the first day of camp if they have not shown any symptoms related to COVID-19. All campers will be prescreened every morning of camp with their parents still onsite to ensure they are not running a temperature or showing any symptoms related to COVID-19. If they have a temperature or are showing symptoms, they will not be able to attend camp until they see a medical professional. Cleaning and sanitizing of the camp areas will occur frequently and campers will not mingle outside of their assigned groups.
