The Richardson Fire Department (RFD) recently received a $5,000 donation from Atmos Energy, to be used to replace two of the Department’s gas detection monitors. They are called “Sensit Gold G2 4-gas monitors,” and are RFD’s main device used in detecting natural gas leaks, carbon monoxide issues and sewer gas leaks. Every fire engine and truck in the city is equipped with a monitor, and the Hazardous Materials team has several as well, the same detection monitors used by Atmos field crews.
The Fire Department had budgeted to replace several of its older monitors that are about to exceed their usable life span, and this donation will reduce the total amount of budget impact for FY 2021-22.
