Winners in the 2021 Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Student Art Contest include two students from RISD schools: Katherine Ramirez Sosa (8th grade) from Richardson West Junior High won Honorable Mention in the 6th-8th grade category, and Kelly Araujo (12th grade) from Richardson High School won Honorable Mention in the 9th-12th grade category. Their art was selected out of 688 entries.

The 2021 theme for the annual contest was “Everyday Heroes Ride DART” and students were asked to interpret the theme using crayons, paint, markers, colored pencils and/or digital art. The students’ art is currently on display at Love Field Airport through Aug. 31 and at the DART website. It will also be displayed at DART rail stations, on buses and inside trains, as well as at the Dallas Museum of Art.
