The City Council got a first look at the new playground planned for Breckinridge Park at Monday’s City Council work session. The playground was approved by voters as part of the 2021 Bond program. Parks and Recreation staff showed a rendering of the playground and provided details. The new playground will replace an outdated playground near the Breckinridge B Complex but will be relocated to near the Keffler ballfields for better accessibility. Proposed elements will provide for an inclusive play experience, the first at a Richardson park in the far eastern portion of Richardson, supporting one of the key priorities from the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan (see above article).

Site work is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year, with opening expected later in the year.
