Saturday June 1 is National Trails Day, a chance for residents to connect with nature and explore the more than 40 miles of trails and walkways the City of Richardson has to offer.

Many of the trails in Richardson border other City park and recreation facilities, including picnic areas, recreation centers, tennis courts, sports fields, and golf courses.

Residents can visit Breckinridge Trail, Central Trail, Duck Creek Trail, Glenville Trail, Huck Finn Trail, Owens Trail, Renner Trail and Spring Creek Trail for fun, fitness, and relaxation, or a healthy and enjoyable means of transportation.

“Richardson has a great trail system. We have a combination of concrete hike and bike trails and soft surface nature trails in some of our larger parks. I think based on the fact, that they are the number one requested amenity around the country from citizens, they are very important. Trails give residents an opportunity to do lots of things,” said Kurt Beilharz, superintendent of Park Planning.
