Working out at either the Huffhines Recreation Center or the Heights Recreation Center in Richardson are great ways to stay motivated and so is joining the IT’S TIME TEXAS Community Challenge.

There is still plenty of time to register.

The competition began in January and gives residents an opportunity to earn points for completing activities such as group and individual exercise, posting “healthy selfies,” and logging daily water consumption.

“We are here to help our patrons whether they are residents or non-residents and to make sure they are getting the true benefit of being in a rec center and coming to a City facility and that they enjoy it,” said Rick Files, manager, Huffhines Recreation Center.

The Huffhines Recreation Center, located at 200 N. Plano Rd., and the Heights Recreation Center, located at 711 W. Arapaho Rd., are two locations in Richardson that provide workout equipment and room for exercise.

Residents can sign up for the ITS TIME TEXAS Community Challenge and then stop by any rec center to purchase a membership.  Richardson is one of more than 300 cities and towns statewide taking part to see which community can demonstrate the greatest commitment to healthy living.

The last day to participate in the competition is March 1.
