The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railroad company is testing freight train travel near Synergy Park Boulevard and Renner Road through March 3, when normal freight operations on the line are set to resume.

Freight operations on the line ceased in July 2022 to facilitate DART’s construction of the Silver Line project. Since then, construction of the Silver Line corridor has progressed sufficiently to allow for the resumption of freight operations.

In Richardson, freight train travel operates within quiet zones, meaning trains will refrain from sounding their horns unless there is a hazard on or near the tracks. DART has installed new signage and warning systems and is conducting tests on all new and existing crossing signals at all affected rail crossings to make sure they are working properly.
