You might see Richardson Fire Department (RFD) firefighters at different intersections throughout the city this month holding large boots, as they are collecting donations for the annual “Fill the Boot” campaign that benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), an organization that the International Association of Firefighters has been helping since 1954.
One hundred percent of the money collected goes to MDA to further research and fund clinics and childhood camps for people afflicted with dozens of forms of the neuromuscular disease.
Note that if you want to donate but do not have cash on hand when you see a firefighter, there will be an option to scan a QR code to donate online.
