The new Spring Creek Nature Area entry portals are taking shape and on schedule to be completed mid-summer, weather permitting. The two portals are located along Renner Road on the Nature Area’s northeast and northwest corners and sit on the newly constructed perimeter trail.
Crews finished the installation of the granite for the Plano Road portal in mid-May and should be finished installing the pieces on the Routh Creek portal this month.
The portals are leaf-themed, with a large leaf-shaped cutout in each granite portal, granite benches and a leaf-shaped granite sculpture.
In addition to the new perimeter trail and entry portals, future phases of Spring Creek Nature Area could include additional trails (both concrete and natural surface), educational elements such as an outdoor classroom and signs explaining the Nature Area’s unique historical and ecological elements.
