In just a matter of time a field located on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas will be turned into the future home of a DART Silver Line Transit Station.

The new route, formerly known as the Cottonbelt Line will extend east-west between Plano and DFW Airport. Once complete, the 26-mile line will interface with three DART light rail lines and the Texrail Regional Line to Fort Worth.

The Silver Line will provide passengers with stops in seven cities including Richardson.

“It’s incredible, its overwhelming. Richardson has always been such a supportive community of transit. Certainly, for the transportation needs, but also for the other opportunities, as you look at all the transit facilities that are in Richardson, Richardson has it figured it out,” said Gary Thomas, president of DART.
