Altrusa International of Richardson honored 17 women last month for the services they provided during the pandemic. The women were from the medical, nonprofit and public safety fields and were recognized at a reception Oct. 22 at the Richardson Woman’s Club.

The 17 honorees at the “Outstanding Women of Today: 2021 Unsung Heroes Reception” included employees from Baylor Scott & White, Methodist Richardson Medical Center, the Richardson Fire and Police departments, Network of Community Ministries and Richardson ISD.

In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Janet DePuy was presented a ceremonial check for $120,067.78, representing the value of the hours of volunteer time invested in the City by Altrusa Richardson members in the past year.

Altrusa Richardson provides scholarships to local graduating seniors and supports agencies including the Richardson Public Library, Animal Shelter, RISD and Network of Community Ministries. It also helps make events such as Richardson Reads One Book possible. For more information, visit www.altrusarichardson.com.
