DART staff addressed the City Council Monday with a comprehensive look at DART services and future plans as well as COVID-19 impacts.
Highlights included information about proposed improvements to the GOPass app and an update on the Silver Line. Utility relocation and removal of old track along the Silver Line’s route began in November, and design work is about 60 percent complete, with modifications remaining to be finalized for the at-grade crossings at Coit Road and Hillcrest Road. Targeted opening date for the Silver Line is still 2022 despite financial setbacks from COVID-19.
DART safety protocols being followed to limit the spread of the coronavirus include cleaning trains every 60-90 minutes, reducing capacity and having bus passengers enter from the rear doors until driver shields are installed.
