Organizers of the upcoming Cottonwood Art Festival (to be held Oct. 7-8) opened applications this week for the festival’s “Chalk the Walk” Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest. The contest is open to artists 12 years old and up, competing solo or as a team/family group. Artists will have six hours, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, to work on their masterpiece at an assigned spot, with judging taking place on Sunday. Awards and cash prizes include:
- Best of Show Adult—$500
- Best of Show Team/Family—$400
- Best of Show Youth—$250
- Overall People’s Choice Award (chosen by online voting)—$150
Spots are limited; deadline to register is Sept. 29. Registration fees range from $10-$20.
