Cleanup continues in the area where an EF3 tornado touched down Oct. 20. Residents are asked to separate the different types of debris to help crews speed up collection.
Trees, brush and other organic material will be mulched up and recycled. All the demolition and white good debris such as appliances and furniture will be taken to the landfill in Melissa, just north of McKinney.
Another way to ensure fast removal of debris is moving vehicles and other obstructions from neighborhood streets where crews are cleaning up.
“We cannot pick it up, because if there’s a car there, we have to leave it, and that just extends the process because then we have to come back when that car is out of the way where as if they you know come ahead of us and have it moved, it so much better,” said Wilber Ledet, Senior Project Manager, Crowder Gulf
