Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday he will rescind the statewide mask mandate and capacity limits on businesses effective Wednesday, March 10, 2021. The change does still allow for individual businesses, organizations and school districts to set capacity limits and/or mask rules. Both RISD and PISD have said they will continue requiring masks for all students and staff during in-person school activities while they are awaiting further guidance from the Texas Education Agency. Updates to the City of Richardson’s COVID-19 municipal ordinance information will be posted prior to the effective date of the Governor’s new order, after the Richardson City Council meets Monday, March 8.
