After listening to a presentation given by City staff at Monday’s City Council work session, the City Council will hold a public hearing April 24 prior to voting on adopting the 2021 edition of the International Codes (nine codes that pertain to building standards) and the 2020 edition of the National Electrical Code, including regional and local amendments. The City is currently operating under the 2018 International Codes and 2017 National Electric Code.

New versions of these codes are released every three years to account for issues that arise between code cycles, new construction methods, and to clarify existing regulations.

The list of Codes under adoption consideration include:

  • 2021 International Fire Code
  • 2021 International Building Code
  • 2021 International Residential Code
  • 2021 International Mechanical Code
  • 2021 International Plumbing Code
  • 2021 International Fuel Gas Code
  • 2021 International Energy Conservation Code
  • 2021 International Existing Building Code
  • 2021 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code
  • 2020 National Electrical Code
