The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that fully vaccinated Americans may now resume pre-pandemic activities. In the May 13 announcement, the CDC said people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear face masks or socially distance, except where required by law, including local business and workplace guidance.
Additionally, the CDC stated that fully vaccinated people may travel domestically without testing and self-quarantining. Fully vaccinated people who travel internationally are not required to be tested before leaving the United States or self-quarantine when returning, but people should still get tested 3-5 days after returning to the United States from another country.
The CDC said that if you’ve been around someone who has COVID-19, you do not need to stay away from others or get tested unless you have symptoms, but added that people who live or work in a correctional or detention facility or a homeless shelter and are around someone who has COVID-19 should still get tested, even if they don’t have symptoms.
People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after they have received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two weeks after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
