City Photo Contest Winners Announced; Winners Exhibit Begins Jan. 28

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced the winners in the 2023 City of Richardson photography contest. Kaye Hargis won both Best of Show and Best of Proficient Division with a photo in the Architecture/Cityscape Black & White category entitled, “Disguising a Parking Garage.” Top honors in the Amateur Adult Division went to Lola Laird for “Monolithic Tomb: Portal to the Afterlife,” entered in the Landscape/Black & White category; and Layne Sandidge won the Student Division with a photo entitled, “Ready to Pounce” in the Captive Animals/Pets category.

Last Week for Holiday Tree Cycling, Box Recycling

Natural, undecorated and unflocked trees may be dropped off at the Municipal Service Center, 1260 Columbia Dr., and will be turned into mulch and compost to help beautify city parks and landscapes and sold to residents at a discount. Year-round, trees may also be set out at the curb and picked up as part of the City’s weekly Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC).
