Rupert was surrendered to us because the owner was anxious about having a large breed dog around a newborn baby. This boy may have some white on his senior face, but as you can see in the photo, he has plenty of life to live. He spent all 5 years with his family living outside, so as we suspected, he tested positive for heartworm disease. Adopters can get discounted treatment for this through our partnership with Mazie’s Mission. We are hoping to find Rupert an indoor life where he can enjoy the cool A/C of our Texas homes, the plush comfort of a well-loved couch, and maybe a movie night or two. He lived with another dog and was described as submissive. He was frequently around a 5-year-old child and remained laid-back and friendly. He is a bit shy here at the Shelter, but don’t let that deter you from the mellow, mild-mannered heart this boy is waiting to share.
