Amazon staff updated the City Council at Monday’s meeting regarding steps the company has taken to address community concerns about its Prime Air Drone Delivery service.  The service began in Richardson in December and is located at Amazon’s fulfillment center at 3051 Research Dr. Concerns have included flight paths and frequent noise.

After receiving feedback in January from residents, City Council members and City staff, Amazon has implemented the following enhancements:

  • Select outbound flights have been re-routed eastward over a commercial area before entering the Creek Hollow Estates neighborhood
  • Overflight of the greenway east of Woodcreek Church has been reduced
  • Minimum altitude for outbound flights has increased to average 225 feet

Amazon plans to work with neighborhoods in the area to discuss these changes and take additional feedback to develop future enhancements.
