RICHARDSON – A second delivery of rail for DART’s Silver Line arrived last week. The Silver Line is an east-west rail line that will stretch from Plano to DFW Airport with two stops in Richardson.
The 50 segments were delivered to Carrollton and bring the total number of rail segments delivered to 100. The first 50 sections were delivered in July.
Manufactured in Columbia City, Ind., the 1,600-foot-long rails traveled 1,100 miles to North Texas by special train. With the arrival of the second load of rail, work moves into the heavier construction phase with an anticipated completion of the $2 billion project and its 10 new stations in early 2023.
