RICHARDSON – The City of Richardson has established a temporary phone-in service that people can use as an alternative to appearing in person at tonight’s City Council meeting for public hearing items.
Calls to 214-997-0297 will be greeted with a brief introduction on how the system works and will then be placed into a conference call where callers can hear the meeting and be called upon to provide their comments during the public comment phase of each public hearing. The service is being offered to help achieve social distancing to address public health concerns related to the spread of COVID-19, while also ensuring people have a way to provide feedback at upcoming public hearings before the City Council.
A public comment form can also be filled out online and used to provide comment without appearing in person or calling in. Submission of the online form must be made by 5 p.m. on the day of the public hearing.
People can also still attend meetings in person, but, due to limited seating to achieve CDC guidance on social distancing, anyone arriving in person may not be able to sit in the same room where the meeting is being held and will instead be directed to overflow seating areas. Speakers will be called into the meeting space to provide comment in the order appearance requests are received.
