RICHARDSON – The use of antibacterial wipes to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is on the rise and wastewater workers are asking people for help with our infrastructure by stopping the flushing of wipes, cleaning cloths, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, and personal care items such as dental floss or cotton swabs.

These common household items do not break down fully in water and can cause blockages in the wastewater pipes of your home, neighborhood and the wastewater system.

Though some wipes are advertised as ‘flushable,’ they don’t decompose. So, remember only toilet paper down the toilet.
