“Song of the Cicada” Award-Winning Documentary Screening Thursday University Theatre Admission: Free and open to the public, no RSVP needed Thursday, Nov. 7 7:20-9:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.) In this unique documentary that has taken home prestigious prizes at several film festivals in the U.S. and abroad, the setting is Galveston, Texas, and the subject is Dale Carter, a longtime mortician who lives in a Victorian home with his protégé and friend. Over the course of a decade, the documentary chronicles his daily life and explores the philosophies and motives that define Carter, who brings a unique combination of empathy, eccentricity and wisdom to a seemingly macabre world.
