City staff and consultants briefed the City Council Monday on the planning process and branding for the City’s Comprehensive Plan Update. A comprehensive plan is a document used to guide future development based on the needs and input of residents, businesses and other stakeholders. It also helps identify needs in a community, such as investments in transportation or infrastructure, to help the goals identified in the plan become a reality. The City last updated its plan in 2009.
Major components of the current plan update, branded “Envision Richardson,” include:
- Future Land Use
- Mobility/Transportation
- Neighborhoods and Housing
- Economic Development
- Enhancement/Reinvestment areas
- Fiscal Impact Analysis
There will be several opportunities for community input between now and the middle of 2024, including face-to-face meetings, small group meetings utilizing ambassadors, pop-up events held throughout the community and other community events.
The plan is scheduled to be finalized by fall 2024.
