The 2023 Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program (RMSIP) is still accepting applications from prospective employers even though the student application period ended this week. Now in its sixth year, RMSIP is a collaboration between the City, Mayor Paul Voelker, RISD and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and seeks businesses and nonprofits that can each offer a summer internship (12-40 hours per week paying a minimum of $12 per hour) to at least one incoming high school senior June 5-Aug 4.

The work may be performed virtually or on-site and should provide a real-life experience where the student performs meaningful work assignments, shadows executives, observes company operations and has personal contact with managers and executives regarding future career paths in the industry. Employers will be able to interview students—who they have pre-selected by resume’ and video—during the program’s Job Fair on Wednesday, May 3.

Businesses may also sponsor an intern to work at a participating local nonprofit.

The deadline for employers to apply is April 17.
