Installation work began this week on new bike lanes along Spring Valley Road between Grove Road and Jupiter Road. The new lanes will bring the total miles of bike lanes in Richardson to more than 25, on 14 different streets.
The City utilizes two different designs for bike lanes, a buffered bike lane and a bike lane adjacent to on-street parking, and both types will be present along Spring Valley depending on the nearby surroundings (on-street parking is kept where homes face the street, and in cases where removing the parking would create a hardship for an adjacent school, park, church or business).
Richardson was the first city in the DFW area to be awarded the “Bicycle Friendly Community” designation by the League of American Bicyclists in 2015.
