RICHARDSON – A warning to residents about scams going around the DFW area amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Scams include thieves gaining entry to a residents’ home by posing as city employees or utility workers. In one case, scam artists convinced a resident their water supply had potentially been infected with COVID-19. There is no evidence the virus has been detected in public water supplies.
Unless you have scheduled an appointment ahead of time with the City of Richardson, please don’t let a stranger posing as a Richardson worker or utility worker inside your home.
If an unexpected employee shows up at your front door, please contact the respective utility company or city department.
