With many Richardson residents still without power, warming centers have been opened throughout the city. The hours of each location vary, with some being open only during the day and others available 24 hours per day.
Facilities that offer overnight shelter encourage people to bring cots, blankets, air mattresses, snacks, board games/activities, and any other items to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
People visiting a warming center will be required to follow COVID-19 safety protocols by wearing masks and maintaining distance from other groups. Limited charging stations will also be provided for electronic devices.
Some facilities allow pets, while others do not. If you bring your pet, please bring all needed supplies such as water bowls and pet waste bags. Also, consider the temperament of your pet around other animals and people before bringing it into an environment that may be stressful and cause it to be aggressive.
