The results are in—the City’s first “Santa’s Village on Parade: A Virtual Shoebox Parade” has been a “sparkling” success, with more than 2,700 people watching the parade video so far, at the City’s website, Facebook and the City’s cable channel. In addition, the votes have been tallied for the People’s Choice Award (viewers picked their favorite through online voting) and the winner is Santa Paws, by Olivia Mitchell.

Awards announced during the parade, determined by parade judges, are:

  • Best Overall—Santa’s Girl Scout Helpers!, by Girl Scouts Troop 7773

Holiday Extravaganza Award—Rich-Tone Musical Snow Globes, by the Rich-Tone Chorus

Jolly Elf Award—Meowerry Christmas, by Mia Nymeyer

Spectacular Sparkles Award—Santa’s Pet Shop, by Hope Horizon LLC

Theme-a-rific Award and People’s Choice Award—Santa Paws, by Olivia Mitchell

More than 25 floats were entered in the parade and created by individuals, families, businesses and organizations. The parade was sponsored by Methodist Richardson Medical Center, Richardson Woman’s Club, Richardson East Rotary Club, Golden Chick, ER Near Me and Logotology and benefited Network of Community Ministries.
