The Richardson Interfaith Alliance, in partnership with Compassionate DFW and the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), is hosting the 6th Annual Feeding Children Everywhere (US Hunger) Compassion Event Sunday, Sept. 19, from noon-5 p.m. at EPIC, 4700 14th St. in Plano. 

The Richardson Police Department (RPD) is hosting its annual “Can Do” Food Drive this Saturday, Sept. 18, from 8 a.m.-noon in front of police headquarters, 200 N. Greenville Ave. Simply drive up, and officers will be standing by to unload your donations. Food collected will benefit the clients of Network of Community Ministries. 

The City’s Richardson Reads One Book (RROB) program hosted bestselling author William Kent Krueger this week at First United Methodist Church Richardson for the annual RROB author lecture.

Several artist renderings of future DART Silver Line stations have been included in the first issue of DART’s new Silver Line newsletter, including the future UT Dallas and City/Line Bush stations currently under construction in Richardson.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will be performing maintenance work between Arapaho Center and Parker Road stations this weekend, Sept. 18-19, requiring bus shuttles to operate between Richardson and Plano. 

The 13th annual North Texas Giving Day will be held Thursday, Sept. 23. The 18-hour “giving extravaganza” sponsored by the Communities Foundation of Texas raises money for North Texas nonprofits through an easy-to-navigate website—with a few clicks of a mouse and one credit card transaction, anyone may donate to any or all of the more than 3,350 nonprofits.

When the City’s Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC) service experiences delays, residents now have two ways that they can check on the status of BABIC pickup in their neighborhood:
