The City of Richardson, in partnership with UT Dallas, celebrated the grand opening of The IQ® Headquarters this week. Located at 1302 E. Collins Blvd., the 27,500-square-foot “IQ® HQ” will support the surrounding Richardson Innovation Quarter by housing six new UT Dallas research centers, the City’s new Office of Economic Development and space for programming, networking and events focused on attracting entrepreneurial activity to the area.

Several nonprofits with close ties to the City of Richardson will participate in the annual North Texas Giving Day Sept. 22.

The Richardson Interfaith Alliance, in partnership with Compassionate DFW and the East Plano Islamic Center, hosted the seventh annual Feeding Children Everywhere Compassion Event last Sunday.

City staff updated the City Council Monday about improvements regarding the process of filling positions for City boards and commissions, including a new recruitment campaign and adjustments to the timing of applications and appointments.

The City’s emergency siren vendor was out in the community this week conducting routine maintenance on each of the City’s 22 outdoor warning sirens. The work is required to make sure each siren stays in good working order.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has partnered with Assurance Wireless (and the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program) to offer free cell phone service and a free cell phone to eligible DART riders who are currently enrolled in a qualifying federal or state assistance program.

Richardson has been deemed one of the safest cities in the nation for pedestrians in a recent study released by personal finance website MoneyGeek, coming in at No. 15 among 305 cities with a population of 100,000 or more.
