City’s Sesquicentennial Celebrated 

The Richardson community gathered at Main Street Plaza in the CORE District last Saturday for a 150th birthday party honoring the City’s founding in 1873. Attendees enjoyed fare from food trucks and nearby CORE District restaurants; family activities; birthday cupcakes; and live entertainment, including the Rich-Tone Chorus and the Richardson Community Band.

Become an Envision Ambassador 

In order to ensure that all of Richardson’s diverse voices have an opportunity to weigh in on the vision for Richardson’s future, the City is seeking individuals to volunteer as Envision Ambassadors, helping to raise awareness, promote understanding, and gather input for the City’s Envision Richardson Comprehensive Plan Update.

NTTA Toll Rates to Increase July 1 

Beginning July 1, The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) will increase toll rates by an average of 1 cent per mile, implementing its regular, biennial toll rate schedule. TollTag rates will increase from 20 to 21 cents; ZipCash (pay-by-mail) rates will now be double the TollTag rate (previously, the ZipCash rate was 50 percent more than the TollTag rate). In addition, NTTA will launch a pilot program July 1 that offers a $10 prepaid TollTag account for drivers in addition to the $20 and $40 prepaid accounts previously offered.

Lane Closure Expected on Plano Road South of Campbell 

The right lane of southbound Plano Road between Campbell Road and Collins Boulevard may be closed to traffic at various locations from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., to create staging areas as sidewalk reconstruction takes place along southbound Plano Road. The work is expected to be complete by late July.
