The City of Richardson continues to implement water conservation measures across the City, and is doing its best to balance the needs of those using athletic and other facilities for recreational use.
The NTMWD is optimistic that repairs to its water treatment plant in Wylie will be completed soon. However, the District says continued outdoor water conservation efforts are needed to allow it to provide water during times of peak demand.
To answer that call, the City is reactivating watering at critical areas, but limiting water use in other areas to conserve. Irrigation will start again on ball fields and other recreation areas to alleviate ground cracks that make it hazardous for people to use athletic and other common recreation areas. Sherrill Park Golf Course also continues to use mostly well water for its needs, and limited watering will also take place to preserve newly planted areas across the city.
People at home are asked to also conserve as much as possible by limiting outdoor irrigation to trees, shrubs, foundations and other critical areas to prevent long-term damage. Established grass will go dormant in times of drought but can later recover when water is more plentiful.
